If you look closely at the before photo below, you will notice cracking spiraling around the drain which looks similar to a sunburst.  This is referred to as a thermal shock crack and is a common issue with cultured marble.  When hot water is run directly into the sink while it is cold, it can cause this type of cracking.  This is why generally if you have 2 sinks in your bathroom, the one that will crack is that used by the male of the household - as a result of running hot water for shaving first thing in the morning.

The repair below was a result of the faucet being pushed down.  Though the faucet is out of focus it shows with clarity how undetectable the repair is.

Though this sink and drain board were completely refinished after the repairs were performed, they are good examples of the extent of damage that can be repaired.
